I was supposed to go on a trip today with a two friends from school. We were going to go check out a Nature Conservancy plot an hour or so north and hunt for bryophytes. I am, however, sick, and tromping about in the woods and in the rain with a cold did not seem like a good idea. Mostly I slept today.
This evening, I read somewhere that Mother Smolderweb in LBRS was soloable by druids, and I thought, "I would really like a boots upgrade." Not having much else to do, and needing something to focus on to get my mind off of my throat and feeling miserable, I made it my goal to kill Smolderweb until I got my damn boots.
It took 15 attempts, ten of which were successful kills, to get my boots to drop, but I did it. I am now possessed of my very own Wildheart Boots.
It takes about 5 minutes to stealth to her. The space she's in is conveniently set up so that you don't actually need to fight anything but her if you're careful. The fight itself is easy enough, once the rhythm is established. Starfire, hibernate, wait; starfire, hibernate, wait. From the first starfire to the last, the fight takes about 15 to 20 minutes. Once she dies, she spawns 4x55 (nonelite) spiders which can down you pretty quickly; I advise looting her and letting yourself die. You'll have to reset the instance to have another go, anyway, so you might as well just walk back from the graveyard. The blue drops from MS will pay for repairs (I actually made a little money).
Do not try this unless you are 1) patient and 2) a druid. Being 60 and having decent gear are reccomended, too.
